New Look, New Work, Same Ol' Rock And Roll

When I studied abroad in Florence, Italy last Fall I had the opportunity to do an internship for the publishing house of the school, Florence University of the Arts, and work for and contribute material for their semesterly magazine, Blending.

This magazine was just published, and you can check out a digital copy of it for free online.

I contributed photos and design-oriented photo essays. Here are my two photo essay submissions. One of them made it in. See which one below in the digital copy of Blending.

It was a tremendous honor working for the Publishing team. I had a blast working late hours to get photos captured for the photo essay, and shooting events for the school. I couldn't have done it without the opportunity I was given to study abroad at FUA by Robert Morris University. Thank you to everyone involved in making this a possibility for me. You know who you are.

In celebration of this release, and because I'm in the midst of updating and unifying my webpages I have updated 3kalbia Industries and 3kablia Industries Art Blog with a fresh coat of paint and some bitchin' sunglasses. I'm just doing my best to keep bleeding those rainbows for all you amazing folks out there.

What do you think? Does it need more flames painted on the side?

Shoot me a comment below or drop me a line with your thoughts. I promise I won't bite.... hard.

The Line Between Good and Evil

While I was in Florence a beautiful photographer named Mary contacted me for lighting assistance for one of her fashion shoots with the gorgeous Nella Colacci.

I had such a blast working with the two of them. Such great energy from everyone! I only hope that someday we can all work on a longer shoot again.

Here are a couple of photos from that shoot.

Again, fantastic photography by Mary, and incredible makeup and modelling by Nella.

Stay amazing, you two!

Sorry for the absence, folks. Life has been crazy. I just got back from studying abroad in Florence with a focus on photography, and now I am back in Springfield at Robert Morris University finishing up my degree in Graphic Arts, which I'll be done with in February.

One of my photos from my Advanced Photography class that I took at Florence University of the Arts is being showcased at the school's Finals Exhibition at Ganzo in Florence, Italy starting tomorrow the 10th. Unfortunately, I am not there, but if you happen to be there please take a picture for me. :)

I had the good fortune to have an amazing teacher named Simone Pierotti and he taught me a lot and with him and the blessings of the universe I was able to have a week of studio shooting, something I've always wanted to experiment with. The first day of shooting an artist and bag designer by the name of Luloloko walked by and Simone flagged him down to see if he wanted to take photos. I spent the next week taking photos for LuIo with gorgeous models showcasing his designs and his ideas. I hope to show some of my refined work soon, but for now here is the photo chosen to be displayed for the Finals Exhibition.

This photo features Lulo himself contemplating his work.

Photos from Fiesole and more!

There are new posts and photos over at 3kalbianjourneys.com

I recently visited Fiesole and captured some photos, have a look won't you?

I've also added a new page that includes an interactive map of my journeys.
It includes all of the campus buildings around Florence for the Florence University of the Arts where I am currently studying abroad as well. I will be adding more to it as I travel, and photos associated with each destination.

Feel free to stalk me. I won't tell.

3kalbian Journeys

I know it's been awhile, but I've been pretty busy getting ready for my stint in Italy to study abroad for a couple of months. Actually, I'm writing from there now. I am currently staying in Florence, Italy, a stunning city brimming with people from all around the world.

I am participating in a study abroad program at the Florence University of the Arts. During my time here I have traveled through Italy for a week before settling in for classes at Florence. I am currently taking a cultural class, and in a couple of weeks I will be taking an advanced digital photography class and a graphic arts internship/externship.

For my Humanities 200 class back in the states we are writing a blog. I have set up a new Wordpress account specifically for this occasion, and to document my further travels around the world. Unfortunately, the internet has been spotty at best at the apartment. I'm currently in talks about how to resolve the issue and/or find a more reliable wifi source.

My posts have been a bit behind, but they are coming... with photos... and I'm looking into adding interactive maps.

For the time being I will only be making posts to that blog.

Please join me on my travels at...
