Don't Leave The Gate Open

Today's Sunday Matinee for Horror Movie October is none other than the classic 1987 horror film starring the Culkinesque Stephen Dorff, The Gate

"The Gate"
...Pray It's Not Too Late

The Gate holds a special place in my heart because it is one of the first horror films I saw as a child, and because of that it was one of the first films to give me nightmares, next to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (all those kids died horrible deaths) and that one time we watched Faces of Death at Jay's.

To this day this film still rocks. You got meteorites, disgruntled death metal kids reciting metal lyrics backwards, "light as a feather stiff as a board", zombies, tiny demons called gonads, eyeballs popping from hands, the devil, and model rocketry.

WHAT? Yeah.

It's all over the fantastic horror realm. I love horror films centered around kids because all kinds of creativity creeps into the story lines. Also, Stephen Dorff is absolutely adorable in this film. He pretty much embodies the 80's boy in this film with his blond hair, shaggy bowl cut, and squeaky voice that eventually conquers cry-face and with determination and a bit of imagination pushes through it all.

So, check out the trailer then hunt down the film.

As always there is more to come...
