Zombie Sense Tingling!

Seeing as I missed yesterday's Horror Movie October posting today I have brought you two.

Rejoice for we shall have our cake and swim in it too!

First up we have the last installment of Weird Wednesday from yesterday. It's a tale of finding love while losing everything, Perfect Sense

"Perfect Sense"

Perfect Sense may not be classified as a horror film, but the fall of society as we know it through the loss of our senses one by one is a terrifying thought which is depicted brutally in the film. Eva Green and Ewan McGregor give emotionally powerful and convincing performances as well.

With this piece I attempted to represent our senses through rings of colors with the epicenter being the love interests. Then I "broke and spun" the title to represent the downfall of each of the senses one by one.

Today's last Thursday Abroad installment of Horror Movie October is a zombie romp all the way from Germany, Rammbock: Berlin Undead

"Rammbock: Berlin Undead"

Rammbock, which translated means battering ram, is exactly how this film behaves. An undead assault on all fronts. Oh, and there's a love story in there somewhere. I'm sure you can find it.

With this piece I wanted to explore the intense dread with the title page and the cold desolation with the calendar side.

Check out the trailers then hunt down the films.

Breakfast and Black Rainbows

How is everyone doing? It's been a few days since a post hasn't it?

My apologies for that. I had a couple of rough days. I was rejected from four jobs in two days, and fined with $270 to pay within 30 days or else a warrant will be put out for lil' ol'  me. The unemployment topped with the fine kind of spiraled me into bed for a couple of days.

However, I am back!

I also have two days of previous posts to make up for. So, without further ado here is the 21st's Weird Wednesday and the 22nd's Thursday Abroad, Dead and Breakfast and Beyond the Black Rainbow

"Dead and Breakfast"

"Beyond the Black Rainbow"
Dead and Breakfast is a quirky little film with ho-down song and dance intervals and revolves around zombies in the country. Quite a unique piece.

Speaking of unique, from Canada, Beyond the Black Rainbow, is filled with striking visuals that would make any Kubrick fan squee with delight.

I attempted to keep the Dead and Breakfast piece nice and quirky with a colorful color scheme. As for the Beyond the Black Rainbow piece, I used the general color scheme and stark shapes utilized in the film, and added a bit of color for contrast.

Watch the trailers and then hunt down the films.

You Can Dance If You Want To

Today's Thursday Abroad installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is Dario Argento's beautiful film about the horrors of studying abroad for dance. That's right I'm talking about the metal infused Suspiria

"Suspiria"
This film will teach you to never pursue arts in Germany. Especially if you're a 14 year old girl interested in ballet. It's a very strict process over there.

Check out the trailer, and then hunt down the film.

Keepin' The Dead Down

Today's Thursday Abroad installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is the 1991 Italian/French/German horror comedy directed by Michael Soavi starring the Dylan Dog-esque Rupert Everett, Cemetery Man. The film itself is even adapted from a novel by Dylan Dog writer, Tiziano Sclavi

"Cemetery Man"

Cemetery Man rolls at crawling pace with punches of violence and subdued comedic highlights. Imagine if Christopher Guest made a bleak atmospheric horror film about a lonely soul searching for love in a cemetery of the walking dead. Yeah. There's also a ridiculous Sancho Panza-esque character for the Rupert Everett.

Check out the trailer. Then hunt down the film.

Oh, Hey There.

Well, it's been awhile, hasn't it?

I'm going to get started by posting pics from an October project I have started.

Later I'll discuss what I've been up to since my last post was.... February 3rd, 2015?

Wow.

There's a lot to catch up on.

However, first I'd like to share the beginning of this project.

Precursor: The other night a friend of mine told me that she was pondering on whether or not to accept a challenge to watch a horror movie every day in October. I naturally said, "Do it!" She then asked if I had any suggestions. At the time I was dead tired, and therefore my brain was drained. However, I've thought long and hard today, and have come up with a bloated list of some of my favorite horror films, and shall share one a day for every day in October. There's even a bonus "double-feature" I will show on Fridays.

However, let us first get started with the first one, which is three days late. Ha!

"The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears"

"The Strange Colour Of Your Body's Tears" is first up on #ThursdayAbroad for #HorrorMovieOctober. This beautiful dizzying suspenseful horror film from France will leave your senses buzzing and your mind tingling. It'll cast a spell on you with motion and color in a Hitchcockian way that, at times, will take your breathe away while at other times leave your skin crawling in anticipation of the upcoming horrors yet to be revealed.

Check out the trailer, and then give it a watch if you think you have the fortitude to handle the hallucinatory "The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears".
