I love all of Joe Dante's films, but The 'Burbs is by far one of my favorites, and one of his most underrated films. Tom Hanks, Corey Feldman, and Bruce Dern shining through as the worst nosy neighbors of surburbia. In this piece I presented to contrast of the warm veneer that suburbia presents itself with against the drab depressive undertones it can often carry because of its lack of personality. I also used squares to represent housing units that create a claustrophobia. Check out the trailer. Then hunt down the film.

"Gremlins"
Joe Dante one of my favorite directors, mainly because of the topics he tackles with a child-like imagination. He's like Guillermo Del Toro with less dramatic lighting. Gremlins is no exception. It starts off all cute and adorable giving you very simple characters that give you laughs and subtle cringes. Then it takes a turn for the worse, and at any moment you constantly questioning whether or not someone is actually going to die or not.
Also, Billy is probably the world's blandest character in the world.
