Feel The Burn!

The final Showtime Saturday installment and final installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is the timeless classic of a man not asked to be born, but forced to live in a world that won't accept him, Frankenstein

"Frankenstein"
The best Halloween film ever made? Quite possibly. Such a timeless story.

With this piece I wanted to show a solemn contemplative "monster" amidst the whirlwind of his short-lived life. I used the yellow lines to indicate his spark of life and the progressive white line to determine his lifeline, from fractured to progressive until he is beset upon disaster with the little girl that he attempts to connect with. I used the red shapes to indicate, not only his fiery demise, but the rough claustrophobic life that he could never "adjust" to. I also threw in the burning windmill over his face for a little foreshadowing and force contemplation of death upon the "monster."

Check out the trailer, and then hunt down the film.

I had a blast doing this series, and I hope you enjoyed it as well.

It was a personal exercise to improve my graphic design skills, stimulate creativity within boundaries, and a daily project to do to keep the depression away.

Dancin' On Fire

I've really been  enjoying making these Horror Movie October calendar cards, but I try to limit myself to a certain amount of time to finish each one. By the time I release one I still have ideas, and will play with it more later on. Sometimes I like what my play has brought out more than the one I released prior. Just like this one!

Here is another alternate, this time for yesterday's Showtime Saturday, Drag Me To Hell

Going Down?

Today's Showtime Saturday installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is Sam Raimi's endearing tale of a young woman carrying on the wishes of a dying stranger, Drag Me To Hell

"Drag Me To Hell"
Just when you thought bankers never helped anyone, Christine Brown (played by Alison Lohman) proves that even in our busy, self-absorbed days we can find time to help out our fellow man as they pass to the afterlife.

I attempted to capture the experience of being lapped up by the flames of hell all while showcasing the film's protagonist and antagonist.

Check out the trailer, and then hunt down the film.

This Post Is Clean

Today's Showtime Saturday installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is the 1982 Steven Spielberg real estate nightmare Poltergeist.

"Poltergeist"
I love everything about this movie. I focused to bring the bright vivid colors of transcendent dreams that lay the road to another realm, and apply them to some striking imagery from the film. It's a technicolor nightmare of unworldly proportions.

Check out the trailer, and then hunt down the film.

Let's Party All Night Long

Today's Showtime Saturday installment of the Horror Movie October graphic design calendar card series is the number one zombie flick of all time, the 1968 George A. Romero classic, Night of the Living Dead

"Night of the Living Dead"
This is the zombie film that began it all, and not just zombies mind you. This ballsy little independent flick was the very first film of its time to introduce a heroic black man in a cast of panicky white folk. To this day this film still holds its reign as the king of zombie flicks.

Check out the trailer, and then hunt down the flick.

The Shinnin'

The third installment in the Horror Movie October series for today (just barely) is a Showtime Saturday feature.

"The Shining"

"The Shining" is not only one of my favorite horror films, but one of my favorite films of all time. The clean crisp genius of Stanley Kubrick's directing combined with the primal raw emotional instincts of Jack Nicholson make for a furious storm waiting to burst through the doors of your perfectly decorated home, and with pounding feet and slamming hands declare that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

Check the trailer then watch the film.
